sri lanka after winning a lottery and a trip to the u.s. with work privileges. they moved in with his uncle. who was working in his yard on bantry way when he heard the shots. >> he was alive at that moment. so he was alive. and then i was trying -- he was trying to tell something it looked like to me. but i don't know. after that, someone called 911. >> reporter: this is the second murder in olney in less than a week. last friday evening they found an 81-year-old dead at his home in the 19500 block of olney hill road. police now say it was a homicide, that mr. ahmed was fatally shot. police are investigating to determine if there's aink between these two shootings. >> at this time our detectives are trying to determine if there was any relationship between these two individuals, who on the surface would appear not to have a relationship. so this does take time for detectives to sift through what possible link there might be between these two murders. >> reporter: now, at this hour, police have no suspects, and no motive in either of these murders. they want the public's help. witness

us. >> veronica johnson is tracking the changes. >> it's going to drench us in a big way. we're talking about a system coming into the area wednesday night, staying with us throughout the day on thursday. so that's just 24-hour period where we could have moderate and heavy rain coming down. because of that potential for heavy rain, there's a flood watch up. the national weather service starts tomorrow evening. it runs through thursday evening. the only areas not in it is through charles county, st. mary's and calvert county. i think everyone will be in either a flood watch or flood warnings. especially in the north up around frederick and loudon county that had the heaviest rain with the last weather system. where some of that heavy rain is coming through missouri and illinois right now. tennessee, too. and low pressure right now, a storm system back in southwestern missouri. it's snowing on the other side of it where there's some cold air. but for us, mild evening it is. 42 degrees. by 9:00, overcast skies. we are going to be dry this evening. and really dry for most of the

that a tip would lead us to a successful conclusion of this case. >> reporter: task force members say aaron to hhomas was already a short list of potential suspects. once the tip came in, investigators followed thomas in new haven, connecticut where he was living with his girlfriend and 5-year-old son. they grabbed a cigarette butt he discarded and matched its dna to the evidence taken from the many rapes. on friday, thomas was arrested. fairfax county detective john kelly who was applauded for his years of work by task force members got to give some of the victims the good news. >> there were significant outbursts of emotions and, as we recognize these are lifelong pain and injury here, and they're just extremely happy we're going to have accountability. the answer of who is this question. >> reporter: investigators are also certain there are other victims who have not yet come forward. that's why they are reactivating the website with the hope others who have encountered thomas will offer information. >>> and coming up up at 6:00, a look at the prosecution ahead and what it is likely aaro

with the delay of it being reported to us as a missing person, we've had to kind of play catch-up as well. but we're trying to get as much leads as we can, talking with family members, looking at the area, and trying to find out what her reasons for disappearance may be. >> reporter: investigators do know that her car was left behind, found in the parking lot outside of her apartment. the sheriff's office also says her husband is currently overseas serving the army based in afghanistan. gonzalez says up until a few months ago, he always saw the 4'11" decker walking up the stairs in the building. he says he heard a lot of arguments coming from her apartment upstairs. >> sometimes like it sounded like at midnight they were having problems. almost every night. >> reporter: with limited leads and evidence, authorities are not ruling anything out, including foul play. but at this point the sheriff's office would like to speak with her husband. >> he has been here in the country on leave, and was with miss decker back in january. and so we need to come up with a timeline as far as their contact with ea

for drivers. pat collins is live on the scene to tell us what police discovered. pat? >> reporter: well, suspicious vehicles have a way of showing up in washington. and today about six blocks from the capitol, there was one here on maryland avenue, and for more than three hours, it created quite a stir. 6th and maryland avenue southwest, cops all over the place, blocking off streets. moving people out. a u-haul truck parked in front of the lyndon johnson education building. parked here since yesterday afternoon. very suspicious. and when a bomb dog alerted next to the truck, it got real suspicious. taylor buchanan was working outside when that happened. >> well, all we saw was showing up with the dog. the dog sat there and they told us to clear the area. everybody go to the other side of the building. >> reporter: on the scene comes a strange white truck. a special white truck. it does a slow circle around that u-haul. and then it does it again. and after that, it disappears. for tourists, this scene was a sight they didn't plan on seeing. >> what do you make of this? >> that was quite

. please tell us when it will cheer us up. >> it will cheer us up probably sometime this weekend. that's the good news. it does look like at least one day this weekend is going to be really nice. but we continue on this damp and dreary pattern. outside right now, we do have some rain making its way across the area. most of this very light rain, if not some drizzle across parts of the region. you can see it in frederick county, 270 and 70, we are seeing some of that rain. but also areas of drizzle that are not showing up right now. current temperature at the airport, only 42 degrees with winds out of the northeast at 10 miles per hour. that puts our wind chills in the 30s. it is definitely a chilly afternoon. look at the temperatures across the region. only 39 in hagerstown. 42 in sterling. 43 in manassas and 45 towards fredricksburg. the good news is, temperatures are going to be going up over the next couple of days. but there are still a lot of chances for rain, as well. i'll let you know when we break out of this pattern, if at all, coming up in my full forecast. >>> all right, doug
